This is an issue that can arrive on any system but l’m typically writing on how to solve this problem on Windows 7 (64 bit). I like Windows 7 but like any other Microsoft program, there are pitfalls in it but you know, life is all about pitfalls. There is almost nothing perfect so we just have to deal with it somethings. If you can’t deal with it, then you’ll be screwed, unless there is a perfect world somewhere. Ok, so l’m discussing this issue that can come from no where and prevent you from installing or uninstalling programs on windows 7. You know, normally, to uninstall a program in windows 7, you go to the control panel and select add/remove programs. A window shows up that lists all the programs available on your computer, you select the program you want to uninstall and hit the uninstall button at the top, then the program uninstalls or you get the error that this program can not install or there are other programs trying to uninstall so you have to wait until they’ve finished uninstalling. Meanwhile, in you own right mind, you haven’t started any uninstallation process before the current one. Then you start cursing the computer. well, there is solution for this and it may or might not help you, but it works most of the time.
First, go to http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall , which is a Microsoft support site for this type of problem and run microsoft fix it, a little program that will install on your computer and help you continue the rest of the procedure. You have to click to run the program after download so it will install automatically after the download process has completed or if you save it on the computer, then install it to use for the rest of the procedure. After installation, it will bring you to terms and conditions page to accept them, which is basically going to be if we break anything in your computer during the process, we are not responsible lol. go ahead accept it and the program will complete the installation.
Then comes the screen where you select if you want fix it to automatically detect errors and fix them or you want to it detect the errors then you can decide what to do with them. I recommend to chose the automatic approach if you are not so sure of what you are doing. so assume we chose the automatic approach and click on that, the program brings you to the window where you chose if you want it to fix installation or uninstallation problems. Here, the choice is yours but l’m going to continue with the uninstalling step so l’ll click on uninstalling from the options available. The program will check your registry for patch related problems and then it will bring up all the programs you have installed on your computer and you can choose the program you desired to uninstall. Select the program and click the next bottom of that window. It brings you the option if you want it to uninstall the program and cleanup it’s mess in your registry or you want to try other fixes that are available in fix it. Choose try to uninstall and your problem will be resolved if you are lucky. When successful, the error will be fixed and the program uninstalled. You can then go back to your control panel or check your programs to see if that particular problem is gone. If it doesn’t then you have to try the whole process again or other ways of solving this problem, which l can’t describe now.
